Go-Karting: There are quite a few outdoor karting tracks quite close to hand the nearest being about a mile from Murcia San Javier airport. It's quite a small track but very cheap and the karts are in good order. There's also a large outdoor track at the beginning of the La Manga strip which is excellent. A very large track can be found futher up the close just south of Torrevieja, but be warned it get's very busy indeed and quite competitive.

Mar Menor: The Great Pool, the Little Sea... the so-called Mar Menor (Minor Sea) has been known by different names during the course of its history, all of which have described this singular natural phenomenon: a great coastal lagoon (originally an open bay), 170 square kilometres of warm salt water, the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe.

Watersports: This setting has everything you need for water sports: great weather, a constant breeze, calm and shallow waters (less than seven metres at the deepest point)... there is no wonder it is considered one of Europe's best sailing destinations. Water sports enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with sailing, canoeing, swimming, waterskiing, jet-skiing, fly-surfing, windsurfing and every other type of nautical activity you can imagine.

La Manga: The stretch of land that separates the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean, called La Manga ('the sleeve'), is 24 kilometres long and between 200 metres to 1.5 kilometres in width. La Manga del Mar Menor is located between two seas and as such boasts infinite beaches, sandy seabeds and crystalline waters. The Mar Menor beaches are particularly popular with families with young children, because the warm, shallow water offers bathing fun for all ages.

Cartagena: The Coastal city of Cartagena is approximately a 35 minute drive from La Torre. The city was founded in pre Roman times and has several archaeological remains even a Roman amphitheatre. The port city has a large marina and a great deal of money is being invested restoring the beautiful buildings. The waterfront has been completely rebuilt with several restaurants and bars. The city is a working port and also a naval base and is very proud of its history. During September there is a major Fiesta where the residents dress as Romans and Carthaginians and party well into the early hours. A large section of the shopping area has been pedestrianised and there also department stores, street side cafes, restaurants, bars and 2 large hypermarkets located on the edges of the city.

City of Murcia: The regional capital - Murcia City, is known as the “Baroque capitol of Spain” for its wealth of fine buildings and is a fantastic place to explore. It is shopping heaven with many up-market shops and department stores. You can wander through the pedestrianised areas to beautiful squares with cafes and restaurants. There is a magnificent cathedral, a beautiful monastery, gardens and parks.
South from Murcia the motorway takes you past the town of Alhama de Murcia with it’s Moorish castle, Roman spas and beautiful church. Continue south to Totana which again has a beautiful church and an enormous market every Wednesday. Both of these small towns are on the edge of the stunning Sierra Espuna Regional Park. This area is a paradise for walkers with dedicated trails cris-crossing the mountain area which is covered in pine trees.
